The breakwater provides well mooring conditions for ships , which plays an important role in coastal engineering. The caisson structure of breakwaters has been widely used, the onshore Oscillating Water Column (OWC) structures for electricity generation ,on the other hand, is one of the most promising type in the wave energy conversions. These two different structures have been studied separately. As one part of the NSFC project, caisson breakwater as the air chamber of onshore OWC wave energy convertor for electricity generation is designed, and the study on wave energy converting is carried out through experimental investigations .The research progress of Perforated Caisson are summarized in this thesis. The caisson breakwater utilized as onshore OWC wave energy convertor for first electricity generation is preliminary designed. The stability is studied by the laboratorial investigation and corresponding computation. The structure type of caisson breakwater used as onshore OWC wave energy convertor for electricity generation is designed, and optimized feasibility validity is studied. In the experimental investigation of wave energy conversion, it is found that the water column oscillating in caisson chamber, pressure variation in the chamber and the air flow in the duct has the interior relation and interaction with each other. The effects of shape parameters on wave capturing such as wave periods, wave heights, working water-level of the chamber, draft of the chamber skirt, diameter of caisson chamber duct are studied. The key parameters which influence operating performance on caisson chamber is recommended. Several proposals on facility design for wave energy conversion are proposed for the further studies, which lays a foundation to further study.
