A Preliminary Study On The Evolution And Development Of The Regional Architecture

The unique types of traditional dwellings in China was generated in respective natural and humanistic backgrounds, showing intense regional characteristics, and possessing profound historical and cultural foundation. However, in the background of the globalization based on the western modern culture, the economic gap caused the loss of subject consciousness and the westernization of Chinese traditional dwellings. The modern architecture did not inherit traditional culture based on higher building foundation, but to present the assimilation tendency instead. The paper will do the research of regional architecture based on Chinese traditional dwellings, trying to analyze the development trend of regional architecture on the Premise of the consicous development of host culture, and to fill the gap between the studies of traditional dwellings and regional architecture.The building mode of traditional dwelling depends on the goal of living. The adjustment of the goal causes the change of the mode, which reflect on the quintessence elements of traditional dwelling intuitively. As the continuation on the concept of traditional dwellings, the evolution and development of regional architecture are relating to the goal of living, and the influencing factors are the constraint conditions of the goal. The paper definites the traditional dwellings as the archetype of the regional architecture, and try to predict the development trend of the regional architecture by analyzing the changing of influencing factors in different developing stages.Chapter 2 mainly discusses the finalization of the traditional dwellings and its value. The evolution pattern of the traditional dwellings follows the goal, which presents as a chronological evolution process. As an important part of regionality, the forms of traditional dwellings is the fundamental source for the imagination of the regional scene.Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 set up the derivation process of regional architecture development trend. Chapter 3 discusses the architecture archetype and its characteristic attribute, in order to definite the basic role in the evolution of regional architecture. Chapter 4 discusses the changing of the natural factors, the humanistic factors and the technical factors in past and present, so as to analyze the development trend comprehensively and dynamically. Chapter 5 discusses the changing rules of regional architecture in and spatial dimension, deducing the results of adjustment and renovation.Chapter 6 discusses the contemporary building phenomenon in different regions, and analyzes the value orientation behind the behavior, so as to verify the discussion of the regional imagination in Chapter 2.
