This thesis researches wind turbine drive train downtime due to failures which possible reasons are complex loading, inaccurate models, incorrect bearing selection and dynamic effects. The main tasks in this paper are as following:1) Failures and dynamic design study for wind turbine drive train.First, the equivalent load will be different due to differences in the specific SN-curves for different components.Second,KHβ should be determined with consideration of actual deflection for each load level. The last but not the least, dynamic forces could shorten the life of components.2) A 750 kW drive train from a stall-regulated wind turbine with a two-speed asynchronous generator Romax model is being setup.3) The simulation result show that complex loading, inaccurate models, incorrect bearing selection and dynamic effects are important for failures of wind turbine drive train.
