Grid can be divided into three parts by the flow direction of electric energy: power station,power transmission and distribution network.The last that faces the user directly is the most complicated and higher demands.For the past few years,the need for electric energy is increased rapidly along with the continual development of our country economy.How to guarantee the reliability and effectiveness of power supply is the common goal that power supply enterprises pursued.GIS(Geographic Information System) of distribution is the most important part of DMS(Distribution Management System).It is not only regarded as geographic background image but also provide better topology analysis for DMS,because of it's advanced function of storage and output for data.So,how to apply the function of GIS to DMS adequately becomes a hot research topic in the present,and it will be continue in the future.Topology analysis for distribution network based on GIS can make the best of GIS's function of data processing.It also can monitor and judge the equipments and running state on line by to share data with SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and LM(Load Management).As a foundation module, topology analysis for distribution network based on GIS provides essential data and result for DMS advanced functions.However,the topology model is the premise of topology analysis.A simple and efficient topology model can not only improve the running speed,but also to ensure the accuracy of the results of the analysis.It is a strong guarantee for the security of electricity supply.First of all,this text expounds the current situation of topology analysis,and then makes compare with them.According to the type of organization of data in DMS and analysis for component and function in GIS,proposed a kind of node model based on GIS.On this basis,improve the modeling method for complicated equipments through comprehensive analysis to the electrical characters and structural features.After that,make an example of controlled branch box and ring main units explain how to use this method.Secondly,obtain an algorithm for topology analysis on the grounds of this model.To verify its correctness and efficiency by the development of DMS advanced functions.Then make an example of fault location and line loss analysis explain how to use this algorithm.Last, introduce its prospects and to express the hope for DMS.
