Variable mass energy storage air-conditioning system is also called variable mass energy transformation and storage system, abbreviated VMETS.It uses a new potential storage technique.During the system operation, the mass and concentration in working fluid storage tank is variable, and as a result, the chemical potential is changing, which leads to achieve energy transformation, storage and release. This paper gives a simulating example of an office building in Guangzhou city.By using the DeST-c software, the cooling loads of the given day and the whole air conditional season are calculated. With the partial storage strategy, the operation characteristics of the VMETS system using LiBr-H20 as working fluid are studied through numerical simulation. Finally, the work capability of the storage tanks, the compressor operating parameters and the electric load shift rates are obtained. The simulating results show that the fitting daily load in air-conditioning season is more typical, and the transformation rule is more clear. As a result of variable mass energy transformation and storage system taking use of the air-conditioning season load data, the system avoids just few days running under full loads during air conditioning days.On the other side, the run-time of compressor can be shorted, the electric energy consumption is reduced and economical effect is achieved. What's more,it makes a higher electrical load shift rate during the air-conditioning season. The designed days' yearly load shift rate is 55.5%,and the conditional season load shift rate is 64.1%.In modem cities with short power supply and enlarging difference between electricity peak and trough, the raising of the load shift rate reaches a better social and economic benefit.
