The Study Of Residential Design In Aging In Place Pattern

The aging of the population is a big social problem of twenty-tirst century as well as a main feature of this period among the development of human society.How residential designs fit and meet the housing needs of the elderly has become an urgent problem to solve.In this paper,aging of Chinese urban population,providing for the aged and residential problem were analyzed in order to solve the conflict between residential adaptation at present stage and the needs of residential users and provide some theoretical reference for future researchers in relevant areas.Based on the study of residential issue of Chinese aging in place and the residential characteristic of the elderly,the paper pointed out where the problem was.In combination with architecture phenomenology and environment behavior,advanced examples home and abroad were analyzed.Further more,aiming at the residential design in aging in place pattern,the paper put forward corresponding principles and solutions which mainly represented in the following aspects:First,the flexibility of the residential system,Residential space should adapt to the changes of family structure and using function.Second,directed at elderly users, especially those in assisted living and nursing period,the residence is specially designed and equipped with proper assisting facilities.Third,according to spirit of place design principle,a sense of ascription and safety was aroused thus a familiar and memorable "home" environment was created for the residents.Forth,the creation of communication space could provide people, especially for the elderly,with a nice communication place so that to satisfy the psychological needs of communication.Fifth,the intellectualized and sustainability design for the house manifested the principles of ecological and sustainable dcvelopment,Last but not the least,in accordance with Chinese actuality,the paper pointed out that we should combine residential construction with relevant assistant organizations and policies so that a network could be formed,The aging in place pattern and its associated support system is a complete system,which provides a theoretical framework for the residential issue of the elderly and some reference for theoretical study and actualization so that makes it possible to construct houses adapting to the aging society and create safe,comfortable and convenient residential environment.
