The Study On Intangible Culture Heritage In The Wuhu Ancient City Conservation And Renovation

Among the present means of protecting and reforming ancient cities, the typical method is to take the building spaces or the city patterns into consideration. However, China is of great long history and grand landscape, and there are too many historical cities sharing almost the same outlook. Thus, to operate the design only by physical thinking, will cause the result of same face in the reconstruction and the lost of charactistics in each city.This article raised the topic of how to quest the way of historical city revitalization from the angle of intangible culture. Expecting to inherit the distingushing features and the vitality of Wuhu ancient city through these new stand points and thoughts.In this thesis, the author made a separate study of historical city, intangible culture, the ancient city of Wuhu and the intangible culture parts in Wuhu ancient city. In above four parts, some important problems were brought in: the extracting of city characteristics, the inheritance of intangible culture, the ecological revitalization of intangible culture in ancient city. The article classified the intangible culture in Wuhu ancient city and based on that, analyzing the history, situation, form, possible methods of revitalization and the dependant relationship between the intangible and the physical. A lot of tables are used to summarize the results. In the following parts, it is analyzed and genalized concerning the key words of intangible culture of Wuhu ancient city, which took the conclusion of three character of the city: commercial port culture, river-bank culture and amalgamation culture. Historically we found out the main trace in Wuhu ancient city: 'war culture'-iron culture-river-bank culture-commercial port culture -amalgamation culture. Also it raised the principle of preferentially selection, people orientation, and feasibility in the cities revitalization. It established the following facts in the work for this ancient city: revitalize the city character, inherit the genes of local culture and the rule of ecology. By all the above rules, the article revealed the plan of how to revitalize each intangible culture separately. Not only need we to protect and develop an ancient city, but also we must explore the ways of how to inherit and revitalize the intangible culture. However all those results of exploration surely will be checked or adjusted when implementing the plan.This article is a systemic attempt among all those plans of historical city un der protecting. Further more, it is dedicated to the study on how to continue an ancient city's characteristics and to resume the vitality as well as to change the monotony outlook of so many transformed ancient cities.
