With the increase in engine power, the working conditions of piston become increasingly harsh. High mechanical load and thermal load often lead to cracking of piston pin seat, ring groove of early wear and tear, top of the combustion chamber throat burn as well as the edge of the mouth, such as thermal cracking failure. Therefore, it is necessary to do the finite element analysis for the piston, clarify distribution of thermal stress and mechanical stress of the pistons to provide a basis for improving the design. How can design a reasonable piston structure to ensure that the piston is in the work of state and to maximize the reliability of the piston has become a key technology of piston design.This paper, for a piston engine, uses I-DEAS finite element analysis software to establish the entity model of piston and calculate the mechanical stress and deformation of piston and draws the inner surface stress concentration of the piston pin hole. At the basis of this conclusion it proposes the program to improve the structure design of the piston pin hole.The main work is as follows:(1) It summarizes the current failure modes and the structural design of the piston pin hole and analyzes its regularity;(2) It uses the finite element analysis software, establishes three-dimensional solid model of the piston Group, considers the mechanical load and constraint condition ofthe piston, calculates mechanical stress and Deformation of piston to point out that the phenomenon of inside piston pin hole stress concentration;(3) It proposes measures of improving piston structure design and adopts the structure of cast aluminum bronze embedded in the hole in the piston pin bushing. The finite element analysis is carried out which aims at improving the design of programs.The results show that the program has made the stress inside the piston pin hole tend to be even, improved stress concentration phenomenon of the pin hole and reduced the surface stress peak of the pin hole and they possess some guiding significance for the future study of the structural design of the piston pin hole.
