Based on historical records, there were human existence in Kinmen area since Ging Dynasty Yuan Emperor Jianwu years (around A.D. 317). It has been over 1,600 years until now. During Song Dynasty when Zhu Xi was in control of Fujian Province Tongan County where Kinmen area belonged (Suide Village), there were lots of talents with outstanding literal performances on the island by that time. In order to preserve these valuable traditional architecture styles and humanities, and to have generated offspring share ancestors' wisdom, local competent authorities aggressively activate the repair and reuse engineering programs for these assets. Therefore, based on the scope and subject of Shuitou Communities, and the through the method of spatial changes and the discussions of the current topics of the preservation of traditional architectures and communities, this research will emphasize the concept of adaptive reuse combining the communities' preservation and development so as to discuss the derived topics of promoting the effects of communities' preservation and adaptive reuse after reformations.
