Ancient villages, as a heritage and succeeding of both culture and material, play a significant role in the field of Chinese culture and architectural history. The urbanization of modern cities and people’s improved living standards leads to increased requirements of recreational activities. Ancient village, as a traditional human settlement space, is the most basic form of Chinese traditional social structure and the concentration of thousands of years Chinese farming culture, makes people living in cities have an inseparable feelings with it.Shuitou ancient village has an eight hundred-year-old history, is located in the north of Zhuotian Town, Changting, Fujian Province. It has a beautiful natural landscape consisting of mountains, plains and a river flowing through the county. Its terrain is an even land surrounded by low mountains and hills on three sides, like a cornucopia. All of these beautiful landmarks paint the village like a picture.The planning, based on the whole understanding of the natural condition, history and culture of this village, put forward the Long-lasting Rhyme,Landscape Therapy and Education idea, which is based on protecting the ecology of Shuitou village. This is aimed at carrying forward the history and culture as the key point, combining plant protection and therapy method to create a beautiful, humanities and natural landscape in the integration of the rural tourism resort. By this planning, we will achieve: improved life quality of village residents, and provide a comfortable eco-tourism landscape consisting of vernacular architecture, native plants, sketch and pavement, etc al.to urban residents demanding to returning to nature. Using plant therapy we will provide to every person a natural environment of body and mind rest. It will highlight the unique Hakka culture that focus on humanities connotation and the psychological characteristics of landscape. Finally, make a fine balance between the ancient village historical and cultural resources protection and the development of local economy.
