There are lots of factors that may affect the shearing strength of shear wall, such as the shear span ratio, reinforcement ratio, concrete strength, loading, constraint of frame, etc. The low-rise shear wall's damage mechanism plays a key role in discussing its ultimate bearing capacity. Experiments and theoretical analysis show that the low-rise shear wall's damage generally belong to the shear damage. The web bears most of the shear before the concrete of web cracks. The concrete of web is invalidated then the reinforcement of the web bears most of the shear after the web cracked. The horizontal load is borne by the web and the frames. As further increasing of the horizontal load, the frames restrict the cracks of web, increase shear-wall's ductileness and the shearing bear capacity. The experiment indicated that the bearing capacity of low-rise shear wall was under limited stage when the end of the column was damaged. Currently, the force-mechanism of the interaction between web and frame is not clear yet, so it is necessary to further study on the factors of influencing the shear strength. This thesis is based on finite element method; depends on the constitutive relation of concrete, reinforcement and steel; uses the non-liner analysis-method; edits the program which analyzes the shearing resistance of shear walls by FORTRAN language. The thesis is emphasized that low-rise shear wall's shearing resistance is influenced by the thickness of web, the reinforcement ratio of web, the axial compressive ratio, and the steel ratio. The thesis evaluated and compared with the results that calculated by the program and the formulas in the code. Furthermore, on the basis of current research achievements, the paper emphasizes to analyze the distribution of internal forces of the frames and the web when the low-rise shear wall is at ultimate shearing strength. At last, this thesis investigated a computational method to compute low-rise shear wall's shear strength. It contrastively analyzed the multiunit results by the method. To study this subject is valuable to engineering practice.
