In recent years, with the power electronics technology, the microelectronic technology and the microprocessor technology developed fast, especially because of these three combined in application, the drive system of stepping motor is developing and perfecting continuously, the performance index is promoting continuously and the system is modularized by the function, the structure of the system is simplified gradually. Five-phase hybrid stepping motor, as one of the main products of stepping motor, has been applied widely in many fields, so research on its drive technology are always concerned. The driving system with buck type of raising frequency and raising voltage circuit as a high quality stepping motor driver system, is the direction of the development, but few research on it can be found in domestic and foreign.As the executive component of digital control system, the stepping uniformity of stepping motor is always valued. Usually, the accuracy index of stepping-distance angle is used to measure the stepping uniformity. But people are aware by practising that light-heavy step of the stepping motor is an important content of stepping uniformity. And the influence of the light-heavy step phenomenon to the situation of high control accuracy can't be neglected (for example: the tool machine by line incising), it affects the movement characteristic of motor. These involve the single step response characteristic of the stepping motor. But the research about it is not sufficient, so the knowledge about the single step response characteristic of stepping motor is less. The major cause is the factors that influence the single step response characteristic are many, it is difficult to master the regulation, the method and means of studying about it are not perfect. So there are many limits of stepping motor's application and development.This paper studies the five-phase hybrid stepping motor which adopts star-bipolar winding connection pattern and buck type of raising frequency and raising voltage circuit driving pattern which is fully described. The paper establishes a mathematics model of systems that include the stepping motor, drive circuit and control circuit, and studies the dynamic characteristic of the system. The single step response characteristic of the whole drive system is constructed and emulated with MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation results coincide with the theory analysis. Finally, one stepping motor control circuit based on FPGA is introduced. The design principle and realization of the controller are discussed in detail and the simulation wave is presented. This system has the characteristics of simple structure, good flexibility, powerful transplantable capability and high control accuracy.
