With the development of industrialization, a large number of energy and natural resource are consumed and more and more waste and emission are produced. Global environment is deteriorating, environmental emission and resources depletion problem has become neck bottle of society development and as a result, various kinds of green barriers appeared. Research about green design and green products has become hot spot which is concerned by governments, business interests and academic world.On facing with growing pressure on the global ecological environment, traditional "end-treatment" method has been difficult to work. Under this background, life cycle assessment is brought forward which has become an effective tool used widely to the sustainable development research and green design, and ISO14040 and GB/T24040 series standards related to LCA were built and executed. At present, there are nearly thirty kinds of methods based on different research purposes in the world and several kinds of software tools have business application. In China there has been no mature LCIA method and software used to guide green design until now. For this state-of-the-art, developing LCIA method that fit China's national conditions and manufacturing level and related database building were system studied in this thesis.The paper firstly reviewed the LCA systematically, and then focused on the key part of LCA-Life cycle impact assessment. Followed by developing LCIA method based on Chinese government environmental policies according to 'distance-to-political target' principle. The method model framework includes selection of impact categories, selection of characterization models, normalization reference calculation and weighting factors calculation.Followed by foregoing work, sofeware based on web was developed. And because LCA database that in line with China's actual conditions is the basic need for executing LCA effectively, database framework design and logical structure design was studied in this thesis.Last, a case study of life cycle assessment for three-phase asynchronous motor is given. It will be helpful to LCA practices within the industrial processes of China.
