A Research On The Applicability Of Mingled Residential Quarters For The Elderly In China

Population aging is the developing trend of world's population nowadays. The population aging problem is becoming aggravating unceasingly with the development of society , economy and culture. On one hand, the elderly are more and more dependent on the residential quarters, on the other hand, the present living quarters for the elderly can not satisfy their needs on account of unreasonable design. By analyzing domestic current living quarters' pattern for the elderly as well as introducing the current construction situation and developing trend of living quarters for the elderly, this paper points out that mingled residential apartment is obviously of great advantage comparing with other types. It is the right living quarters construction mode for the elderly that is not only suitable for the elderly's psychological and dwelling characteristics but also suitable for China's actual conditions and conform to the development of the times. Meanwhile, the paper sets forth the designing essential points of the mingled residential apartment for the elderly in detail. Through detailedly analyzing the author's designing practice, it also indicates that it will make the elderly more independent and improve their living quality effectively by reasonable design of the space and function of mingled residential apartment for the elderly. Mingled residential apartments for the elderly has a nice applicability in our country , it should become the main mode of the programming and development of the current living quarters for the elderly.
