Bogie frame, bearing many loads including of vertical and lateral loads, is a key component of the bogie. Research on the effect of tread wear on load characteristics of bogie frame is the key work to calculate the structure strength and evaluate the operation safety, and which is also the foundation to improve the operation level of EMU.Based on the bogie frame of CRH2-300 in dedicated passenger line between Beijing and Tianjin, vehicle system dynamics model was built using SIMPACK according to the dynamics parameters of CRH2-300. The load-time history was simulated under the new state and worn state of the tread in typical operating conditions. the test programs for lateral and vertical loads of the bogie frame are introduced. The loads, under the new state and worn state of the tread, were achieved through experiments. The test data were analyzed both in the time domain and in the frequency domain in order to evaluate the effect of tread wear on load characteristics of bogie frame. The effect of the tread wear on load characteristics of CRH2-300 bogie frame was verified by test result.The loads of bogie frame were divided into six basic load series. The load spectrum of the basic load series and the statistical inference was carried out to describe the distribution law of loads spectrum. According to the stress spectrum in junction of cross beam and side beam, the fatigue damage was calculated and the result indicated that the tread wear had great influence on the junction.
