With the development of social economics, the passenger traveling volume is increasing. Meanwhile, people propose a higher requirement about their traveling quality. Under such circumstances, how to manage a reasonable railway passenger flow partaking rates of different train classes is the key point for railway department to achieve the social and economic benefits of railway transportation. Therefore, the research on railway passenger flow partaking rates of different train classes will discover the characteristics on how the travelers make choices. It will also help to optimize the train traveling schedule and develop more transportation products. This, in turn, can improve the quality of travel service and satisfy the travelers' demand ultimately.Firstly, the paper divides the trains into six different classes according to the traveling speed and service level, and gives the definition of railway passenger flow partaking rates of different train classes. On the basis of this, it analyses the main factors that affect the passenger flow partaking rates, including passenger properties,train properties,trip characteristics,transportation node properties,railway transportation properties, and then discusses the relationship between these factors, which lays the foundation for the quantity research.A new research method of passengers' selection behavior on train classes is adopted in this paper which is the foundation of research on railway passenger flow partaking rates of different train classes. This method is based on the existing ticket data and using data statistic analysis method. In this paper, I mainly consider the node properties and travel distance, which are the basis to divide OD, and define the train utilization to show the travelers option trend. On the basis of this, the paper calculates the utilization of different train classes of the OD which are selected based on ticket data, in order to analyse characteristics of passengers' selection behavior. Then, I take Beijing -Shanghai as an example to guarantee the feasibility of this method. Finally, the paper sums up a general choosing characters to different trips including long, mid-level and short trips, and analyses the passenger selection behavior on train-set on the basis of analysis on more extensive data.In order to conduct a quantity research on the railway passenger flow partaking rates, the Logit model is adopted and a model of passenger flow partaking rates of different train classes based on changeable weight is established. Solutions to the model are found successfully by calculating the Beijing- Shanghai case.Last but not least, the paper also raises some suggestions on the operation of existing travel routes and passenger-dedicated railway lines.
