Engine heat experiment is a key link to ensure the quality, the starting and loading equipment of engine is an important part of heat test bed, which mainly realizes the function of starting the engine at the beginning of the experiment and loading when needed during the process.On the basis of analyzing the design requirements, we put forward a method with WVF controlling the motor. Using the direct torque control method to control the motor, it can get a high dynamic performance of the torque. At the beginning of the experiment, the motor is at the state of electromotion, the output of torque is big enough to make the engine get started; after that the torque of the motor drops to zero, realizing the zero loading. During the process of loading, the motor is at the state of generating electricity, it can regulate the output torque at any time, the electricity is consumed to the break resistor through WVF. Finally we complete the selection of the device and the hardware design, also finish the software design. Then we test the device in the laboratory and field respectively, the test result shows that the device can fulfill all the design specifications of the system.
