High speed is the trend of of railway system's development, and electrification is the necessary condition for high speed. Pantograph is an important component of electric locomotive, which function is to receive power from catenary for electric locomotive, so the quality of pantograph working state affect the quality of electric locomotive's current collection directly. Pantograph exposes in nature enviroment for long time, and there is mechanical wear between pantograph and catenary, and there is high temperature arc when pantograph contacts and detachs catenary, which can bring serious electrical ablation to pantograph slide plate. In order to ensure normal current collection of electric locomotive, it is necessary to detect the abrasion of pantograph slide plate, and it can evaluate performance of pantograph slide plate and can diagnose rationality of line's design of electric contact wire. Through analysis and comparison the advantages and disadvantages of pantograph splide plate's detection devices or methods in current industry, this paper designs a new detection system of pantograph slide plate's abrasion by utilizing ultrasonic sensors as detecting elements.This system controls ultrasonic sensors to detect abrasion of pantograph splide plate of electric locomotive based on DSP TMS320LF2407A, applys the principle of ultrasonic ranging in monitoring abrasion of pantograph slide plate, utilizes 30 ultrasonic sensors to detect electric locomotive's pantograph slide plate by means of on line, multi-point and time-sharing, at last, displays the actual three-dimensional graphics on upper computer after data processing. This paper includes the designs of lower computer system, upper computer system and device structure. The lower computer system is mainly responsible for data acquisition and transmission, uses TMS320LF2407A chip as processor, mainly includes sensor trigger circuit, echo signal processing circuit, serial communication circuit and program code by C language; The upper computer system (PC software) is a user operation interface by VC++6.0, is mainly responsible for processing the detection data, saving data and displaying graphics, it includes serail port programming of MSCOMM, database programming of ODBC and displaying three-dimensional graphics by OPENGL; The part of device structure includes cantilever beam and sensor box.
