Pumped-storage plant has the characteristic of rapid starting, flexible operation so that it's very suitable to take on the tasks of reducing peak and filling valley, emergency reserve, frequency modulation, phase modulation, etc.in power system. The economic Efficiency which is generated by Pumped-storage plant is collectively referred to as dynamic efficiency. How to evaluate the benefits is of great significance to promte the construction of opumped-storage plant. At present, the research on static benefit is more mature, but the the research on dynamic benefits has lagged behind. The existing assessment method is not perfect, the rationality and accuracy are difficult to meet the needs of the development of the power system. Therefore, this article reviews the dynamic benefits of Pumped-storage based on the vast literature.Towards the disadvantages of the existing assessment method, this article redefine and reclassify the dynamic benefits, and introduce the models to assess these benefits. The probability model to assess the dynamic benefits is based on probability, consider the lack of electricity expectations as the caculating index, use equivalent alternative methods to evaluate the benefits. When we assess the benefits of emergency reserve,we take the first use of the failure mode analysis; And introduce dynamic load mode to evaluate the benefit of frequency modulation. In the calculation of integrated dynamic benefits, we used spinning reserve benefit assessment model to avoid a breakdown in the summation of the dynamic model of efficiency and duplication between the cross-cutting issues. Finally, according to a province in 2006 system data for analysis, the result showed pumped-storage plant dynamic efficiency significant.
