Research On Integration Of Urban Building Space And Urban Transportation Space

At present there exist serious problems which are hindering urban sustainable development in most cities such as traffic jams, constructive destruction, building space separation with traffic space and so on. As important parts of urban morphology, they should have an important effect on effective organization of urban traffic network, continuation of urban comprehensive function, comprehensive utilization of urban space resources, but they usually cannot be symbiotic or harmonious, affecting normal operation of the whole urban traffic system, or even undermining urban ecological environment. In recent decades, urban spatial structure has showed an increasing complexity and diversity, and urban construction has increasingly become a stumbling block for the operation of urban transport. That prompts urban architectural design to be involved in the re-integration of urban transport system. Today, with urban function system increasingly complicated, a variety of urban sub-system (such as transportation systems, building groups, ecological landscape, open space, cultural heritage, etc.), respectively occupy urban land in the two-dimensional way. It not only wastes limited land resources, but also causes dilemma-congestion but broken function. So we should have some study on them from the perspective of urban morphology integration to resolve contradictions above in three-dimensional space coordinates, to build the new stereo configuration system, to integrate urban environment by means of multidimensional thrust ,cascade and so on, to achieve the objectives of proper division, solving traffic congestion problems and the establishment of a new dynamic three-dimensional transport system in promoting the intensive use of land at the same time, and to better promote harmonious and sustainable development of each element of the whole city.This paper researches on the integration of urban building space and urban transportation space. The study process is base of abundant examples. The conclusion is obtained according to analysis and integration, induction and deduction. The essay discusses from five hands. The first part is about three basic questions: Why to study urban transportation, why to study urban building, and why to study integration of them. The second part expound the three core concepts: urban building space, urban transportation system and integration, including concepts, functional organization, characteristics and three requirements of affecting the formation of gathered high-density complexes, definition, composition and classification, evolution and development process of urban transportation system, urban transportation system integrated with urban building space, and definition, value orientation, basic methods and major category of integration. The third part analyzes integration conditions and existing problems to pave the way for the following sections. The fourth part analyzes constituent elements, scope, and characteristics of integrated space. At last, the essay sums up a set of integration principles and methods, and imagines a series of integration mode. In a word, I hope that the study can afford some revelatory productions for current city construction and solutions of traffic congestion.
