Research On The Method Of Kansei Design

With the development of product design, the function or appearance cannot meet consumer's need. The Kansei design and experience become new focus. At first Kansei Design is cater to the perception of expending and carry on the related design passively for profit .Then companies plan to develop the market gradually with Kansei Design. Japan and America established their own perceptual design system after long-term development, depending upon their cultural characteristic and design level. There are some influential systems such as "emotional design" from America, "Kansei Engineering" from Japan, "Interesting products" from South Korea's and so on.Chinese know Kansei Design from the overseas design practice early time, but Japan's theory and US's emotional design theory are not introduced our country. Of course there is not any development. Now domestic Kansei Design is still at the initial stage. The designers do not have good Procedures to follow. This is the weakest link of domestic design. This article studies the method and Procedures about Kansei Design .It includes two aspect contents mainly: How to locate Kansei factor; How to transform this factor into design factor of product.The "Kansei Engineering" is a good method that can translate perception to design factor. With the development of Kansei Engineering in Japan, it expands from the field of technology application to the field of cognitive psychology. It research on the Physiological function which causes human's intuition feeling. The Japanese academic believed that "Kansei" surpasse the word "affective" or "emotion". It is not only means sentiment but also include human's esthetic intuition and cognition activity. It is an aspect of human cognition. This trend of development makes Kansei Design and cognitive science related closely.Based on this close relation we seek method from "cognition" and "psychology" to locate the Kansei factor. Then translate perception to design factor with "Kansei Engineering". At last we propose a feasible and integrity design Procedures.
