Analysis Of The Street Space For Rongxiang By The Space Syntax

With the special method of Space Syntax, this essay makes a deep study of Rongxiang, which possesses the traditional block's characters. Through this method, the human activities which influence the traditional block's space is found out. First, the special space characters of Rongxiang and the factors that have impact on them are studied; Then the Space Syntax is described , with a quantitative analysis of the characters of the block's space of Rongxiang using the Space Syntax based on the theories available today, and with an comparison of spatial syntactic variables between spaces of different scales. Through the case of Rongxiang, the method and function of Space Syntax are introduced in detail. Space Syntax, in another sense, provides a new perspective to study the characters of traditional block's space. With the variables of space syntax, it is possible to make a further study of the interaction between the human activities and the space morphology in the block's space. At the same time, through the case of the Rongxiang, the method of Space Syntax is introduced and promoted into the study of the principles which lead to the formation of the traditional block's space.
