Through the theoretical research, optimal model of fault diagnosis for power transmission grid based on the Covering Set Theory and objective function can be found. According of dependable degree of the alarm signals, it add believable element that increase accuracy of fault diagnosis. Otherwise, the objective function make used of the Tabu Search algorithm for its result. The algorithm can be improved. Then it accord with requirement of calculation speed and effect. Finally, an actual calculated example validated this method of fault diagnosis for regional power transmission grid based on optimal technology which diagnose fault rapidly and accurately. This method of fault diagnosis achieves the expecting aim.
