Shipping ballast water ensures the balance and stability of ship without goods, but its taken microorganism threaten ecology, economy and human health seriously, even destroy the whole ecological system. The hydroxyl radical (·OH), produced by strong electrical field discharge, can effectively kills the microorganism in shipping ballast water. According to the request of G8 and G9 which are instituted by International Maritime Organization (IMO), the water quality and related chemicals after treating are also detected and analyzed during experiments of killing shipping ballast water taken microorganism.The experiment results demonstrate that the effect of 10t/h optimal 1:5 liquid-liquid mix killing system is the best, and as the final experiment system, it can provide more accurate data for design, installation and debugging of equipment system on the ship.Basis on attaining standards of D-2, the detecting results of water quality of treated water demonstrate that pH, salinity and conductance are almost invariable. Total Organic Carbon (TOC) rises slightly because Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) rises a little more than Particle Organic Carbon (POC) reduces. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) reduces slightly in high salinity seawater experiments, while rises a little in low salinity seawater experiments. That Dissolved Oxygen (DO) rises, turbidity and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) reduces sharply mean that the water quality after treating change much better than before. That Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) rises sharply demonstrate that the treated water has much more oxidizability.The research results demonstrate that the Total Residual Oxidant (TRO), which is produced during treating ballast water, can attenuate itself. The attenuation speed is faster during initial stage, and with the time incrementing, it slows down, until TRO attenuates completely at last. The important influence factor of TRO attenuation is the contact time of the seawater and the oxygen active particle gas. And some other factors such as chemical substances, organic carbon, organic compound synthesis naturally, iron, ammonia and some other inorganic substance, and water quality changing seasonally are also important.The influence factors of TRO output are also many, TOC content, Br-, Cl-, andammonia concentration of seawater, pH, salinity, and so on. The analytic results of influence factors demonstrate that TRO concentration is directly proportional to salinity, Br-, Cl-, and ammonia concentration of seawater, while in contrast to pH and TOC content.OH solution can kill the algae and bacteria in new system, and change the water quality much better. It prepares for industry production aftertime.
