Shipping ballast water ensures the balance and stability of ship without goods,but it threatens ecology and economy and human health seriously.Consequently,dealing with shipping ballast water is of great urgency.The method of strong electrical field discharge can produce hydroxyl radical(·OH),·OH has strong oxidizing property,so it can effectively kills the microorganism in the ocean.According to request of water used in experiment in《Guidelines for approval of ballast water management systems》(G8), the author chooses Isochrysis galbana and Nitzschia.closteriumt.minutissima are up to the mustard as the disposal objects to have systemic killing experiment.Research results demonstrate that the concentration of·OH that is 0.572mg/L and 0.624mg/L can respectively kill Isochrysis galbana with a concentration of 6.80×10~4cell/mL and Nitzschia.closteriumt.minutissima with a concentration of 5.60×10~4cell/mL,and the killing effect can accord D-2 standard after 6 seconds.The experiment of influence of membrane-lipid peroxidation on·OH reveals that with the concentration of·OH increases,the degree of membrane-lipid peroxidation is high,this indicates cell membranes are destroyed,and algals died.The experiment of influence of antioxidant enzymes on·OH revealed that with the concentration of·OH increases, superoxide dismutase and peroxidase and catalase begins to deactivate under the function of·OH,this further indicates the destorying effect of algals cell by·OH.Just like the systemic killing experiment above,with the precondition of the shipping ballast water dealed with·OH accord D-2 letting standard,the author measurates the water quality of water samples.The author finds pH,salinity and conductance has no changes;turbidity and the content of TSS decreases,it reveals that·OH can degradate organic substances and purify water quality;the content of phosphate and nitrite-N increases,the content of nitrate-N and ammonia-N decreases,it reveals that·OH can oxidate nitrite-N and ammonia-N into nitrate-N,because of nitrite-N and ammonia-N are the toxic substances to aquatic organisms,and·OH can purify water quality too.·OH can kill the algals perfectly under the experimental condition,it provides reliable data and correlative foundation for land-base test and ship-board test aftertime, and it also makes some prepare work for industry production aftertime.
