Recently, with the rapid development of computer network control technology, AC and network has become the main trend rolling stock home or abroad. As a hot spot of industrial automatization technology, Field-bus attracts the eyes around the world. CAN-bus is one of the Field-bus, because it has excellent feature and mature technology, so it has been used widely. All these make the study of AC traction monitoring and control system network on city tram possible.The paper introduces some knowledge about Field-bus control technology, CAN-bus control technology and CANOpen Protocol. It shows the main composing parts of AC drive monitoring and control system on DL6W modern tram in Dalian, which includes monitoring and control equipment with embedded microcontrollers, color display units and AC traction inverter devices. Each unit has its working principle, basic technical data, performance characters etc.. Utilizing CAN-bus data communication advantages, such as high reliability, powerful real time, flexible configuration and reasonable price, based on AC drive monitoring and control system of DL6W modern tram in Dalian and assimilation of incoming locomotive on-board microcomputer network control system, put forward a fire-new network technology project, aim at AC drive monitoring and control system on city tram. CAN-bus is adopted in bus topology structure, the microcomputer monitoring and control network system on city tram consists of microcomputer equipment, color display units, AC drive inverter devices, and each unit is regarded as an intelligent node in CAN-bus network respectively.Otherwise, the paper also designs a solution to typical signal in CAN-bus, using CANOpen protocol, building a basic CAN-bus network control technology platform. By CAN analysis instrument, debug and evaluate the network capability, improve network research of AC drive monitoring and control system on city tram. The research result proves that network control technology on DL6W modern tram will be rised to a higher level. It has wide foreground to use CAN-bus in the field of tram control system.
