The starter overrunning clutch (SOC) is the key component in the electric initiating system of a motorcycle. Its starting characteristic determines the performance of a starter. With the advantages of easy maintenance, low cost, it is widely used in all types of motorcycles. For the present, domestic research has few touches in the field and corresponding test bed is a vacancy. Therefore the research into the test bed of the rotation SOC, which can testify whether the clutch meets the standard technique, satisfies the market's increasingly demands.Based on current situation of studies, the thesis summarize past, present and future research on the clutch testing bed, as well as comparisons about several existing results on performance. Setting the rotation SOC as research object, this thesis analyzes its configuration, principle and performance, establishes its mathematical and corresponding Matlab/Simulink model which have been verified by experiments. Sensitivity analysises about structural parameters respecting to performance have been exploited. A test system with novel structure is put forward, aiming at improving the rotation SOC. Experimental results show that the test system meet the requirements very well.The main contents of each chapter are summarized as following:In chapter 1, based on research information abroad and overseas, the structure of SOC, working principle, clarification and applications. Aiming to improve the performance of the SOC, advantages and disadvantages of the clutch testing benches abroad and overseas are analyzed. Then development trends of the key technique such as load simulation, virtual instrument, data acquisition and so forth are described in detail.In chapter 2, based on the analysis of the structure and working principles of ordinary SOC, the rotation SOC is analyzed. According to the three different stages during starting up, force analysis is made, the corresponding mathematic and Matlab\Simulink model is established, and experiments are made to prove its validity. On that basis, influence principles of structural parameters versus performance are explored.In chaper 3, to meet the performance demand of rotation SOC, a novel-structured testing system is put forward and the relative hardware and software are accomplished. A new hydraulic load simulation system, adopting a rotation directional valve and using a spring accumulator simulating the starter load, is proposed and working principles are described. The rotation directional valve, key component of the system, is developed. Influence principles of structural parameters are analyzed based on the mathematical and simulation model.In chapter 4, the corresponding measurement and control system is designed, employing an industrial control computer and data acquisition card to control and acquire data from sensors. The types of sensor are selected and circuit board is designed.In chapter 5, a series of experiments are made, ultilizing rotation starter SOC testing bench. Experimental and simulation results agree well, indicating the newly-developed system is a success.In chapter 6, all achievement of the dissertation are summarized and the further research work is put forward.
