China is one of the countries which sufferd the worst earthquake disasters in the world and most destructive earthquakes occurred in rural regions. As the economy is relatively backward and the capacity of structure to defend earthquake is weak in these regions, the seismic casualties and the collapse of buildings are much more serious than the cities when subjected to the same earthquake intensityThe more poor areas, the more serious disaster. Therefore, the research on seismic shock absorption technology for rural residential building is very important.As the principle of "Economic, Effective, Durable and Easy construction" and on the basis of comparative analysis of the existing base isolation technology,the friction sliding isolation technology is used for seismic absorption of adobe structures which have the most serious earthquake damage in the existing structure types of towns and villages buildings in this paper. Part of the theoretical and experimental research on friction sliding isolation technology has been carried out for the adobe structure in this paper, including:(1) The analysis model of sliding structure and calculation method of dynamic response has been introduced. Through numerical example, the effect of sliding solation has been studied and the accuracy of the model built for adobe sliding structure has been verificated.(2) The design method of adobe sliding structure is been described, including the construction of sliding layer and friction coefficient of sliding material.Its finite element analysis model is established in SAP2000. The results of modas and nonlinear time history analysis show that sliding isolation could exten the period of adobe structures and effectively reduce the structural seismic response.(3)The effect on the design adobe sliding structure of the factors which include friction coefficient, earthquake intensity, site classification and structure period has been studyed. The recommended value of friction coefficient and base additional width has been given. And the simplified calculation methods has been discussed which could be used as a reference design.(4) Shaking table test of adobe slding structure model has been done.The test results verified the isolation effect of adobe sliding structure which uesed sand as sliding material.
