Progress, the quality and cost are the three main goals of project management. Schedule management is the key factor in project success, especially in the highway construction project. However, how to enhance the project schedule management level is a problem to be solved by many enterprises urgently. Adopting professional project management tool and method is the foundation to improve the schedule management level. However, its application is not optimistic in massive highway construction enterprises. The highway engineering construction is a systematic engineering. In order to complete a construction project, people must coordinate the arrangement of related things, such as people, funds, time and so on. Any only in this way, can a project be guaranteed to complete according to the predetermined goal. Under a certain condition, to work out the construction plan reasonably; to arrange the construction progress schedule scientifically and to monopolize the arrangement of other various essential factors are the core of highway engineering construction. Meanwhile, it has very vital practical significance in improving the management level of highway construction unit.W project is an important passage for transporting reconstruction commodity after the disaster in Longnan, Gansu province. It undertakes an arduous transportation task. However, the awareness of project schedule management is really weak; the mode of administration method is not advanced; the system is not perfect. It is also lack of professional progress control personnel. The weakness of the schedule management foundation brings very tremendous influence to the project success. Therefore, the research on schedule management of W project is significant. This paper begins by describing the theory of project management and project schedule management theories and methods, then pairs of W Highway Construction Project Schedule Management carried out a detailed introduction to the status quo. Secondly, the whole W project WBS decomposition, the use of network planning techniques, critical path method, as well as MS Project 2003 project management software, schedule prepared and carried out the overall schedule optimization and resource allocation optimization, thereby laying the foundation for project success. Once again, according to the forefront of progress in control theory, use of effective methods and tools in the project implementation process to progress control, schedule management of the project to assess the situation and made plans to control the project schedule W Several complementary measures in order to achieve the pairs of W's dynamic management of project progress. Finally, prospects for part of the paper suggest the need to use network planning technology to further identify the progress of the problems, as well as the various factors to quantify the extent of progress to explore a more flexible management style and methodology; in resource optimization, in-depth study of processes a reasonable overlap, the overall balance of allocation after a reasonable model for further study.This paper applies the project management theory and method to the highway engineering project schedule management. It makes the project managers to obtain engineering data immediately by using project management software as a tool. It provides support for its decision-makers to reduce the plan work and improve working efficiency. It also achieves the goal of reducing time and resources balanced assignment.
