As a professional function of the packaging CAD system, carton library and carton component library are the base of packaging CAD. Carton library and carton component library of the existing packaging CAD system are in view of 2D. They can't meet the needs of 3D packaging carton design; the existing carton component library simply comes from the carton's decomposition, and they lack of systematic classification and graph generation algorithm. They aren't provided with the manual editing function. To solve these problems, this paper provides a method that realizes carton library and carton component library based on 3D and met the needs of the packaging carton design.First, by the study of structural characteristics of packaging carton and features of three-dimensional interactive design, B-Reps is used to represent three-dimensional packaging carton. Tree data structure is used to store topological relationship between planes. Further, it provides the integrity of general model data structures and based on carton data structure to achieve folded, interactive operation and parametric design of the packaging carton. Second, this paper analyzes topological relations between planes and geometric constraints between planes to achieve a systematic classification; through research of geometric constraint relationship such as the case prime pixel arc, fillet, angle bisector and concave polygon, it provides graphic rendering algorithms and concave polygon filling method to achieve the parametric design and manual editing. Again, the data files of carton and carton components are designed to store the topology information, geometric information. According to attribute information of cartons, to design a carton library management document to meet the needs of management. It achieves operations, such as search, adding, delete, modify, etc. Finally, this paper especially discusses the software's overall design concept and the implementation process. This paper systematically studies the planes and the carton structural features with "non-loop" connection relationship, and provides their general three-dimensional representation and data structures. And, this paper establishes manageable, editable and scalable Carton library and carton component library based on them.
