The rapid development of science and technology in society today, especially in the field of electronic information is ever-changing, variety of advanced electronic technology is widely used in automotive, including various sensors, various body bus (eg CAN, LIN), a variety of electronic control units (ECU), etc., the application of these technologies can provide us with more safety, comfort and entertainment, to continually meet the needs of the car's high quality. However, a variety of advanced electronic technology applications, but it raise difficult issues to our manufacturers, that is so much electronic technology, how to test them efficiently, flexibly and reliably, and to meet the business on the lower product testing costs, shorten product development cycle.Automotive Electric Power Assisted (Electric Power Assisted, called EPA) is the advanced electronic control technology and integrated motor control technology applied to the steering system, not to use the engine as a direct power source, but with the power steering motor control method to provide power steering for the car driver's body. It is operating under the driver and automotive driving conditions help automatically adjust the size of a driver to bring the good handling and comfort. Electric power assisted can improve automotive dynamic and static performance, reduce energy consumption and environmental pollution, improve driver comfort and safety. Automotive electric power assisted system is widely applied, therefore, to build a flexible, efficient, low-cost test system to test its significance.Based on deeply understanding of Related technologies in the virtual instrument and EPA's structure and working principle, a test system is put in based on virtual instrument, this system can be based on actual product testing needs and flexible to customize, has a module of the hardware configuration and unified and open software platform. Test system based on this idea can be a very good response to the changing product test line, operation and maintenance is simple, easy to update. The test system consists of NI companies (National Instruments Corp. Referred to as NI) PXI-based development of hardware products and application development environment, LabVIEW composition.In this paper, EPA test system architecture is given, including hardware design and software system design, provides the test methods. Test system hardware used NI's PXI products, including mainframe, data acquisition module and CAN communication module. Data acquisition module signal Collecting the necessary, CAN module complete communications and control between CAN nodes as a Extension Module. By NI's Lab VIEW development environment for developing the upper application, the key parameters on the EPA to conduct comprehensive testing, including data collection, storage and display, Finally, testing system functions were verified, and the system error are discussed.
