| In this paper, various grounding methods of very large generator have been carried out research and analysis. And in-depth analysis of peterson coil grounding and distribution transformer with high resistor grounding. For the ground fault current analysis and calculation of derivation were carried out. In the relevant formulas of high resistance grounding transformer grounded, considered the inductive effects of the grounding transformer, in order to understand the distribution transformer with high resistor grounding more deeply. This paper compares the two kinds of practical grounding methods of the generator neutral point. Come to the conclusion that hydro-generating unit for the hydropower station advised to use high-resistance grounding of distribution transformer; pairs of thermal power plants and nuclear power plant turbine-generator unit, choose what kind of grounding, it should be determined according to the actual circumstances.
