Coordinate measuring machine is widely used in many fields such as machinery, electron, aviation and national defense. It appears more and more important role. Its functions and operational convenience is determined by measuring software in a large extent. When the mechanical structures, probe system and control systems are determined, the action of CMM is determined by whether the function of measuring software is perfect or not. Therefore, the significance of studying and developing measuring software of CMM is rather great.Centering on some key problems of software development, this paper has three research works as follows:1) Advantages of data exchange between VB, MATLAB and LabVIEW and associated methods are introduced. In order to take advantages of each software, the user interface and main application programs is programmed under VB environment, the data acquisition in realized using a DAQ card under LabVIEW environment, the visualization of measuring data is realized with MATLAB. By analyzing and comparing various solutions, DLL technology is used to realize data transfer between LabVIEW and VB, and COM component technology is used to realize data exchange between VB and MATLAB.2) Form error and positional error have significant affects to the quality of machine parts, so they are main testing items of measuring software. The measurement and evaluation of positional error are based on the measurement and evaluation of form error. According to the definitions and evaluation criteria of several form errors (flatness error, straightness error and roundness error), evaluation algorithms and associated programs are given basing on minimum zone method. The result evaluated by minimum zone method is unique and in accordance with the national standards. The correctness and practicality of algorithms have been verified through a large amount of experimental data.3) Study on the visualization of measuring data is carried out. Visualizations of the measuring data of form errors are realized under MATLAB. The visualization of measuring data makes them more intuitionistic and easy to observe and analyze so that helps to improve production process.
