A Research On The Control Strategy And Simulation Of VSC-HVDC

With the development of high power turn-off power electronic components, Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based HVDC (VSC-HVDC) has been realized, and received extensive attention and study due to its unique advantages. Based on the steady state mathematical model of VSC-HVDC, fuzzy control is brought into the traditional control of converters in this thesis, the ability of fuzzy controller to improve the transient stability of power system is tested and verified by PSCAD/ EMTDC software. The black start ability of VSC-HVDC is also studied, as a tie line between two areas, VSC-HVDC can soft start area 1 while there is a black out in areal by the power in area2. Through simulation, VSC-HVDC's excellent capability is obvious with contrast to traditional black start method.
