In recent years, along with rapidly development of economy and increase of power demand, we are constructing many power plants. When large-scale blackouts happen or power system collapses, some power plants can supply power quickly and reliably by black start. Black start plays an important role on reducing enormous social impact and economic loss due to power failure as well as on safeguarding social security and people's lives and property.Power system restoration relates to many technical issues, its process is very complex. In this thesis, it focuses on ensuring reliable power supply for start through researching inner system of black start power source.. There are many kinds of black start power sources;the pumped-storage power plant is a special power source with functions of peak and frequency modulation as well as emergency backup. As operation modes can be changed easily, the pumped-storage units can quickly response when power grid is abnormal so as to ensure power grid safety. When large-scale blackouts happen, the pumped-storage plant with black start capability can restore power supply quickly through transmitting start power to drive other units.In this paper, a black start scheme is thoroughly studied according to black start characteristics of pumped-storage plant and the real case of Huizhou pumped-storage plant, including study on pumped-storage unit start process in half black start and complete black start modes and main technical issues in start process; introducing subsystem requirement in half black start and complete black start modes; selecting black start capacity and power source type based on Huizhou pumped-storage plant project; power supply scheme and its control. Because Huizhou pumped-storage plant project has not been finished, this research is lack of some black start test data. This paper introduces black start test process by adopting Guangzhou pumped-storage plant as black start source.The above-mentioned study will provide reference for pumped-storage unit tender, station service system optimization, selection of power source type and capacity.
