The main cable is the most important structure of suspension bridges, its shape and internal force are sensitive to the temperature changing. In order to achieve the design ideal shape under completion status, the temperature must be considered as sensitive factor to monitored and modified in real time under the construction status. This article takes Xihou Men bridge and its main cable temperature field research as the background, and then discuss main cale temperature field and temperature effect of suspension bridges.Firstly, the development of research on bridge temperature problem, and reserch status of main cable tmeperature field and temperature effect are presented. And according to heat transfer theory and suspension bridge features, the main cable's thermophysical parameters, heat conduction equation and boundary conditions suited to calculate main cable temperature field are introduced.Next, Xihou Men bridge main cable temperature field research and temperature distribution of model's section under each weather condition are introduced. Then, by the IHCP (Inverse Heat Conduction Problem) method, the thermophysical parameters are calculated using testing data. Through the finite element simulation, the calculated values are closed to measured values, so the method is proved rational.Finally, the temperature management method under the construction status and some common temperature models are proposed. Then the main cable's sag and internal force are calculated under different temperature. As well, the difference of main cable shape under some common different main cable cross-section average temperature is analyzed.For analysing the influence of corss section's nonuniformity, the calble solid model's shape, torsion angle and internal force are calculated under non-uniform temperature field by ANSYS software. And the main cable's longitudinal section temperature effect is analyzed under longitudinal temperature field and vertical temperature.
