Research On New National Art Museum's Designing Orientation

Author did some field study and research on my existing galleries in China for this thesis. The work included as the following:first, research China's galleries to find out the drawbacks of the existing galleries and explore the designing target of the new ones; secondly, study domestic museums and galleries so as to find out the direction of our museums for development; thirdly, do research on foreign museums and galleries in order to learn from their advanced design.In addition to that, based on new museology, author does research on the design of New National Art Museum both macroscopically and microscopically. To be specific, author does work mainly in four aspects:First, author has studied on the national characteristics of New National Art Museum. Based on my research on Chinese traditional ideas such as Confucianism,Daoism and Buddhism, author learned about the harmonious unity between abstraction and concretion, sensibility and rationality from Chinese traditional views which are my starting points for design. Secondly, author has done some research on the epochal characteristics of New National Art Museum. Based on my research on Chinese economy and political status, author clearly understands China's international role and its influence on the world. Thus, author concludes the effect of contemporary times on New National Art Museum's modernization, confidence, science and technology, culture and ecology. Third, author investigated the aesthetics of New National Art Museum. From one perspective, author tries to redefine the concept of fine art, based on our understanding of modern ideas; on the other hand, author seeks for its uniqueness based on my research on China's fine art. Fourth, author explored the relationship among galleries, human beings and exhibits from the angle of humans. Author reflects stimulus, security and essence of space based on visitors'need for space. On account of visitors'mental recognition, author strengthens the experience brought by space. Author does the display design based on my research which is in favor of visitors' viewable range. Author would allocate a space for rest given to visitors'fatigue point. Author does the exhibition in consideration of the design among the mail hall, exhibition hall, and lounge foyer and storage hall. With my design's leading, the layout of architecture will be more reasonable and more humane.Finally, on the basis of our analysis on New National Art Museum's location and surroundings and with designing ideas such as nationality, the characteristic temper of our age, aesthetics and human orientation, author offers my advice for New National Art Museum, hoping to provide some hints for the design of the galleries.
