Iron and steel industry is the pillar industry of the national economy, the development of steel industry can promote the development of building, automobile, shipbuilding and mechanical equipment manufacturing industry and so on. Although we are a steel superpower, but still not a steel great power, in order to accelerate the development of our country's steel industry, first must to be working out a general layout of steel.The paper introduced the basic concepts of the product logistics and general layout. Analyzing the production technology of steel mills and product logistics, according to the principle and requirement of steel works general layout, this paper analyzed the instructive role of production logistics to steel works general layout, and applied the role to arrange steel works. In this paper, computer-aided integrated system arrangement was used to fix the position of the steel plant workshop. It avoided regulating the arrangement scheme by hand in traditional methods and made iron and steel plant general layout programmed.Paper includes the following aspects:1.
