With the application and development of CAD technology, modern CAD software was no longer just a tool to instead of hand drawing but a chang of traditional design and means. The heavy computing tasks of traditional mechanical design calculation, through CAD software development, can overcome the low efficiency of manual calculation before, and long design cycle defects. The calculations of work ability in mechanical design, structural design and 3D graphics to be integrated through programming to develop the appropriate integration of mechanical design software, has become the reality of the current demand for machinery industry. The several current mechanical CAD software has the shortcoming of poor human-computer interaction,can not finish structural design and 3D graphics drawing and so on. This issue treated the design and calculation of mechanical transmission components, structural design, graphics with computer programming, design one calculation and drawing integrated CAD systems for the common mechanical transmission components.This paper analyzes the common characteristics of the work of mechanical transmission components and related design theory, the calculation process method to design by the VB programming, database operation and management techniques, curve fitting, and the secondary development of CAD software technology, finished the following work:(1) Through direct procedural and database storage, the tables used in design process were processing in the procedure through VB programming;(2) By tracing the formula, discrete line graph, curve fitting, human-computer interaction, etc., using VB programming, line diagrams used in the design process were processing;(3) With ActiveX controls, using VB to program the AutoCAD, the drawing process controls the methods and properties objects of AutoCAD to complete the drawing operation, to achieve a two-dimensional parts auto drawn;(4) According to the structural characteristics of the various components in Pro/E to create a parametric part. With the interface software Automation GATEWAY, establish links between the parameterized drawing program and Pro/E , achieve three-dimensional model drawing.(5) According to modular design ideas, using database to manage system and module, achieved module integration.between the subsystem and the main system, subsystem design and calculation within the two-dimensional graphics module and the three-dimensional graphics module.(6)In the system a good human-computer interaction, help documentation, design calculations display and storage.function were also designed.(7) Tested through practical examples,the test results show that the system is correct, interactive, and can improve the efficiency of design calculation and drawing, the system has certain value, it could also be used for computer-assisted teaching.
