Analysis Of Traffic Characteristics In The Clustered Cities Based On Functional Layout

In the 21st century, urban traffic congestion has become one of the major prob-lems in the big cities. It seriously affected the city's socio-economic development and people's normal life. So, how to solve this problem is vitally important. As the con-structions of transport infrastructure has mainly saturated in big cities, the only way to improve the traffic conditions is to control the traffic demands, which is the source of traffic generation. Urban land use is the root of urban traffic, while the city's functional layout is the core part of land use, so there is a very close relationship between the city's functional layout and urban transport.Clustered cities distribute the traffic flow into each cluster and most trips com-pleted inside the clusters, which significantly reduced the traffic pressure in the central area, thus ensuring the normal operation of urban transport systems. These advantages of clustered cities makes planners begin to focus on the development of city form, which could solve the traffic problems in another way. Clustered pattern has become the major pattern of development in big cities.This dissertation researches the traffic characteristics of the clustered cities from two sides: clustered city form of and city's functional layout, in order to provide theo-retical support and technical guidance for the planning and development of clustered cities. The main contents include the following aspects:In the aspect of city form, analyzes the advantages in sustainable develop-ment and other areas of clustered cities. Compare with the non-clustered ci-ties, clustered cities has many differences in the traffic characteristics, include travel frequency, travel mode composition, spatial distribution of trip, travel time distribution, travel distance and travel time consumption. Confirming the truth that clustered cities have the special abilities to solve urban traffic prob-lems.In the aspect of functional layout,elucidate that city's functional layout put a basically influence on the urban traffic, especially the absolute influence in the traffic spatial distribution. Analyzed the differences of traffic characteris-tics between clustered cities and non-clustered cities, pointed out that the ex-tent of the functional perfection directly impact the proportion of out-cluster trip, while the industrial layout and the distribution of public facilities also affect the distribution of clustered cities'traffic flow.
