With the rapid development in urban rail transit of our country and the keen market competition of the transportation, urban rail transit is becoming more and more important in the development of modern city, and an increasing proportion of traffic completed by urban rail transit is becoming obviously in public transportation. Therefore, the safety of urban rail transit has being taken into account than before. Great damages to passengers and properties, which were resulted from destruction of vehicle, would be caused by the sudden crash accident. So the passive safety of mass transit vehicles was highly considered and study on crash safety of vehicle body has been seen as the important research topic.However, because of the limited economic strength, it is unrealistic to carry out experimental study of real vehicle in the domestic. As with the development of explicit finite element method and the emergence of high-performance hardware and software, numerical simulation using computer has been considered as the primary means for crash simulation of vehicle body. According to domestic and overseas research results, not only the crash characteristic of vehicle but also response and injury degree of passengers in crash process can be forecasted by using vehicles crash simulation, which is very important for shortening design period of vehicles and predetermining the rationality of vehicle structure in the process of vehicle development.Taking the straddled-type monorail vehicle body as the major object, CAD, CAE models on the straddle-type monorail vehicle, as well as FE model about the frontal collision simulation, were established. Based on grasping the related theories such as dynamic exhibit FE basic theory of simulated computation, the correlated ideas and methods during the collision process systematically, HybridⅢ—50th man dummy model used in the international collision simulation was analyzed, and mathematical model, theories and parameters about all elements, properties required to simulate the frontal crash of dummy model were fully mastered. In addition, the structure composition of FE dummy was analyzed and the sitting position was adjusted. Through simulating dynamic responses of some given force, the validity of FE dummy model and the cooperativeness of all parts responses, skeleton deformation of different velocity, deformation rate and absorption energy condition were analyzed. Finally, injury index of dummy during the simulation was gained by simulating the frontal crash of whole vehicle body including dummy FE model and representing dynamic responses of dummy in the process of frontal collision. It is showed that the results fit to the national standard.Through simulating the frontal crash iteration of straddle-type monorail vehicle including dummy FE model, collision simulation of straddle-type monorail vehicle were completed, the results can be regarded as the valuable reference on the body structure of straddle-type monorail vehicle.
