With the rapid development of urban rail transit construction of our country since the 21st century, an increasing proportion of traffic completed by urban rail transit is becoming obviously in public transit. Correspondingly, the safety of urban rail transit has being taken into account than before. While the collision happened between rail vehicles, it is inevitable that the passengers'lives might be threatened seriously. Resent years, vehicle collision safety has become an important research topic in rail transit. Comparing with body structure about the first carriage of other rail vehicles, straddled-type monorail vehicle has a prominent differentiation. Because of the lower requirement of longitudinal strength than other trains, it means straddled-type monorail vehicle are prone to happen distortion. And since it is difficult to do the real vehicle collision tests, simulation and analysis on the crash of straddled-type monorail vehicle body by using computer are determined to be the main research way during study on passive safety of straddled-type monorail vehicle.Straddled-type monorail vehicle is the research object,and the essentiality and specific research methods on crash safety of straddled-type monorail vehicle is discussed, researching status on rail vehicle collision at home and abroad is analyzed. According to CAD model of straddled-type monorail vehicle body,finite element analysis model and frontal collision model and calculates frontal crash simulation at four speeds are established. Otherwise,skeleton deformations and passengers'life space and crash accelerates of different speeds are analyzed. The results exposes that the passive safety can be guaranteed when frontal crash of this vehicle happened at the Initial velocity of 20km/h, and the passengers'safety can be guaranteed at the speed of 25km/h. At last, the front structure of driver's cab and chassis should be improved, which affect passive safety of straddle-type monorail vehicle highly, and a simulating comparison is made between improved structure and pre-structure of the vehicle body.Collision simulation of straddled-type monorail vehicle has been realized firstly in our county through this research, which has some practical significance on structure design of straddle-type monorail vehicle.
