In this thesis, the significance and background of distribution network maintenance as well as reliability indexes were introduced. This paper concentrated on the problems of distribution lines optimal maintenance and wind turbine gearboxes optimal maintenance intervals. The objective of distribution lines optimal maintenance model is system average interruption duration index (SAIDI). In this model, each binary variable represents whether a distribution line should be maintained. The model was solved by branch and bound method combined with interior point method. A maintenance interval optimization model for wind turbine gearboxes considering the maximization component profit per unit time was presented. The maintenance costs can be dramatically decreased if maintenance plans were made according to the optimal intervals.
