With the increasing size of the large-scale modern power systems, the possibility of fault occurrence is increasing, so development of the fault diagnosis and restoration systems becomes the urgent need of power-grid secure operation. In view of this situation, based on the research of the fault restoration technologies, an on-line fault restoration system is developed for Hebei Cangzhou regional power grid. The system is developed with the C# programming language, and coupled to the SCADA and EMS of Cangzhou regional power grid. The artificial intelligent searching technology and an improved minimum spanning tree algorithm with the least times of switching operations are used to search the possible restoration paths, and power flow calculation is carried out to check the feasibility of the restoration paths. The developed system has been put into operation in the Cangzhou regional power grid. The operating performance of the system shows its practicability and effectiveness.
