The total amount of building energy consumption in China increasesyear by year. Accordingly, how to save energy is in an emergence. At present,there are following kinds of exterior wall insulation system for energy saving:EPS board exterior wall external thermal insulation system, EPS thermalinsulation mortar exterior wall external thermal insulation system andPolyurethane exterior wall insulation system. Because of the goodperformance of thermal property, convenience of construction and low cost,EPS thermal insulation mortar exterior wall external thermal insulationsystem is getting more and more attentions.This paper focuses on how to improve the thermal and mechanicalproperties of EPS thermal insulation mortar. EPS is used in thermal insulationmortar as light-weight aggregate because of its low water absorption rate andthermal resistance. Based on a series of experiments, EPS content wasdetermined. By adding binder, the bond strength between EPS and slurry hasbeen improved. Also, air entraining agent(AEA) improves the thermalproperties of mortar and the high-calcium fly ash improves the dry shrinkage.Based on the experiments, a better preparation method is selected. At last, the proportion of EPS thermal insulation mortar is determined.
