Study On Traffic Design Of Large Urban Construction Projects

With the contradiction of domestic urban traffic being gradually aggravated, and the continuous development of techniques used in the traffic field, the traffic design, as a technique and method to improve the urban traffic, is being paid more and more attention, and also the study on that is gradually developing.Above all, the object and content of study are defined in the thesis, and then on the basis of introducing the advanced experience of the developed countries, and according to the practical condition in our country, several techniques and methods of traffic design used in urban site developments are studied. The purposes of this thesis are to improve the scientific level and the applicability of the domestic traffic design, and to enhance the feasibility and the usability of improvement suggestion for transportation impact analyses, and also to provide the technical supports for the optimal plan to solve the traffic problems caused by project construction. The major contents of the article are as follows:(1) It clarifies the definition of large construction project and traffic design, and describes the methods for definiting the thresholds for domestic and foreign large construction projects.(2) It introduces the setting basis for the signal light in different countries, and proposes the flow chart for signal timing, and deeply researches into the mathematical models on relevant parameters and evaluating indicators.(3) It summarizes the investigation methods of traffic volumes, saturation volume, and headway, investigates the headway, and also demarcates the vehicle conversion factor. (4) It makes study on the parking forecast methods and relevant criterions on parking facilities, and proposes the modified parking forecast model, and also discusses the content and principle of access, passage, and traffic organization.(5) It summarizes the function, the classification, and setting principle of traffic sign and marking, and analyses several aspects which are easily neglected in traffic info-terms design of Shanghai construction projects.
