Traditional manufacturing pattern of"high input, high exhausting, high polluting"is no longer applicable under the background of circular economy and sustainable development are greatly pursued. It is a very important measure for building resource-saving and environment-friendly society by pushing sustainable development and realizing circular producing pattern. End life vehicle parts, as one of the critical parts of sustainable manufacturing, has the advantage of saving energy and resources, reducing work force using, declining product costs and so on. Cleaning is a unique procedure of remanufacturing. Cleaning of remanufacturing blank will make it easy to detect, classify and manufacture parts by removing dirt. The main category of dirt of remanufacturing blank are oil, carbon scale and rust which make great and large pollution. The structure and size of remanufacturing blank are various, there is always large quantity of parts which need to clean. Also, main pollutants of remanufacturing process come from the cleaning procedure. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and develop new cleaning technology and equipment and establish corresponding specification to acquire good cleaning effect, declining cleaning costs and protecting environment.Engine parts are investigated in this article, cleaning technology of end life vehicle parts is deeply analysized and research through experiments, a assessment specification is established and a sewage disposal program is advised. The achievement of investigation could efficiently reduce costs, increase efficiency, decline energy consumption and decrease pollutants so that improving the competitiveness of remanufacturing industry and society and environment efficiency of remanufacturing products.Main conclusion of this article as follow:1. Cleaning liquid, which has low efficiency and high pollution, is mainly used in traditional cleaning for ELV parts. Therefore, mechanical cleaning technology and equipment which has high efficiency and low pollution are investigated,"High-temperature decomposition fuel thermal cleaning system"and"Pressure-sending dry ice cleaning machine"are developed.2.Experiment of cleaning effect of thermal decomposition cleaning, high pressure water jet cleaning, shot blast cleaning, sand blast cleaning technology. Effects of efficiency and energy consumption, costs, pollutants ejection are analysized. Especially, the nozzles of sand blasting are simulated using CFD technology to acquire relationship between cleaning efficiency and nozzle structure. On that basis, practical cleaning crafts of remanufacturing blank are discussed and established and corresponding cleanliness assessment specification is proposed.3.Remanufacturing blank cleaning effect experiment aimed at dirt of oil, carbon, scale and rust: parts which are badly contaminated and whose structures are complicated should be cleaned by high temperature decomposition pre-treatment; aluminum-alloy parts which are not badly contaminated or whose structures are not quite complicated could be cleaned by high pressure water jet or shot blast, cast iron parts should be cleaned by shot blast to acquire better surface brightness and cleanliness; aluminum-alloy parts should be cleaned by sand blast ,especially wet sand blast to acquire better surface brightness and cleanliness than other cleaning methods'; Engine block and cylinder should not be cleaned by shot blast or sand blast, small quantities of parts should be cleaned by high pressure water jet.4.Remanufacturing blank cleaning craft should follow such principles: mass remanufacturing blank which has large size and complicated structure such as block and cylinder should be cleaned using high temperature decomposition cleaning technology, small quantities parts should be cleaned using high pressure water jet cleaning technology; aluminum-alloy parts could be cleaned by sand blast to acquire better surface brightness and cleanliness, meanwhile, high temperature decomposition pre-treatment will decline costs of sand blasting, so aluminum-alloy parts are cleaned using"high temperature decomposition pre-treatment +sand blast cleaning + wet sand blast cleaning"craft; steel or iron parts which are badly contaminated should be cleaned using high temperature decomposition cleaning technology, those which are not badly contaminated should be cleaned directly using shot blast cleaning technology, and those which have complicated structures should avail high pressure water jet cleaning technology to eliminate remain dirt after shot blast cleaning technology is used.5.Remanufacturing blank cleanliness assessment specification is mainly applicable for site assessment of cleanliness of end life vehicle parts. It is a quantitative assessment basis for directing to choose and improve crafts. The innovations of this article:First, mechanical cleaning technology, crafts and equipments of end life vehicle parts remanufacturing blank are investigated aimed at saving energy, decreasing ejection, declining costs and improving efficiency.Second, general principles which remanufacturing blank should follow are proposed according materials, quantities, structures of parts and dirt level. Third, assessment specification, which is applicable for surface cleanliness of end life vehicle parts remanufacturing blank, is established.
