SRD (Switched Reluctance motor Drives) system is a new motor control system that rised in 80s 20th century with great potential. It has a great many advantages like firm structure, high efficiency, low cost, fault-tolerant capability, high reliability, etc. It shows strong market competitive gradually. Owning to SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor)'s non-linear characteristics like magnetic saturation, eddy effect and hysteresis effect. The research motivation is how to improve the adaptivity, robustness and dynamic speed of responding in speed closed loop.This paper use TI's high-end, dedicated motor control DSP chip TMS320F2812 to be the control core, developed a three phases 12/8 pole 7.5kW SRD system, put neural network PID control into application, the theoretical and experimental analysis have carried out, finally improved the speed performance of SRD system effectively.There are seven parts in this paper. The first part presented the developing history, status quo and direction of research on SRD home and abroad, artificial neural network in the application status quo of SRD, as well as the research contents and meanings. The second part explained the SRM and SRD structure, operation principle and control methods, common types of mathematical models and power converters. The third part is mainly designed and emulated of PID controller based on BP neural network. According to the control characteristic, Part IV brought F2812's high speed computing and high efficiency motor control ability into full play to fulfill a series of hardware circuits. Based on the fourth part, the part V completed the software design of SRD system. Adopted structured programming methods to enhance readability and maintainability of system software, achieved the composite control strategy of fixed angles Chopped Current Control in low-speed, variable angles voltage PWM control in moderate and high speed to improved the operating performance. Part VI, through the experiments to verified the correctness of control idea and control methed, the feasibility of haredware and perfectness of software. This paper basicly achieved the design requirements and desired functions. The conclusion and outlook presented in the final part.
