With the real estate booming and population increasing rapidly, dwellers have a higher demand for house quality and quantity. It is difficult for multi-layer and high-rise dwellings to reach balance between quality and quantity. so a new house model-medium high-rise residence come into being. so-called medium high-rise residence refers to 7-11F residence, including tall building of apartment, apartment of tower building and gallery tall building of apartment. Among them, tall building of apartment is in the majority, and most have 2-4 households for every floor. This kind of house has an elevator and a general escape stairs, which make traffic convenient. It also has less public areas than others, and gets house buyers'love.Potable water system and fire extinguishing system in such dwelling groups usually are designed as follows: the two systems are separated, and there is a pump house which equips with two fire pumps and controlling devices. Every Fire hydrant box has a push button which can start fire pumps in pumping house. A fire water tank must has a capacity not less than 6m3(some local fire department demand it not less than 12m3).when static water pressure value of the most negative point in fire extinguishing system is less than 0.07MPa,it must be equipped with a booster pump. Potable water of 1-4F is fed by municipal water supply networks.others are supplied by pipe pressure-adding devices. There is no potable water tank and reservoirs.According to the above design ways, outdoor pipe networks are crowd.Especilly for high rise dwelling groups the outdoor quantities are large. The consequences resulted by separating two system will lead to double quantities. The water tank on the building roof will damage its side view, especially when there is no booster pump room. Some census statistics investigated by fire fighting department shows that one third fire fighting systems are unqualified in case two systems are divided. The reason is rightly separating two systems. In normal conditions people don't take fire fighting equipment seriously,and just aim at coping with fire fighting check routine. And it ultimately leads to insecurity in fire fighting system.In this paper, I put forward a new water supply system in connection with medium high-rise residential groups. It means that potable water system and fire fighting system share a standpipe. It sets up concentrated pump house in residential area. Shared water tank co-storage potable water and fire fighting water, and it must take measures to ensure fire fighting water not used for other purposes. The storage water mustn't remain 48 hours. There is only one set of frequency conversion pump and one shared outside pipelines. The standpipes inside is made of thin wall stainless steel pipes.Due to no project threw into practice, this paper dose the research in theory only, in terms of technique and Economic Analysis. It makes Technology Analysis from the following aspects: potable water quality, fire fighting system security, operating condition management and so on. It makes Economic Analysis from the following aspects: equipment and devices cost, operating and management fees and occupying areas. Finally, it utilizes AHP and integrate all influence factors to get a optimum design and draws the conclusion.
