Study On Digital Architecture Design Under Non-linear Theories

In the architecture field, due to the application and development of the digital technology, more complicated forms appeared over the last decade. But it is unbalanced between the development of the digital technology application and the architectural design theory, so there comes some new problems. Then, this article points out that "Non-linear Architecture "with correlative non-linear theories is trying to solve these problems.Inspired by non-linear sciences and philosophy, some avant-garde architects became to study some non-linear theories such as metasystem transition theory, chaos theory ,dissipative structures Theory, and some non-linear philosophy concept such as "Fold", "Smooth Space", "Tuber". Besides, they brought the core ideology of those Theories and concepts above into the architectural design with purpose of dealing with complex systems and making forms either complicated or adaptive.on the other hand, digital generative diagram provides architects some means to realize their ideas. by elaborating the combination of the digital technology and non-linear theories, this article points out that digital diagram is an important technology for non-linear architectural design. Besides, digital diagram spread quickly in design area as form of parametric design, technology benefits makes many more architects come to join in the research on non-linear architecture. so in the course of research, the theories and technology promote each other.In succession, the article points out that Learning to the nature is an important way to put non-linear architectural design into practice, and then using some influential examples to analyse several kinds of non-linear architectural design methods. At last, the author describes part of his notion about non-linear architectural design through his own design, and then describe his expectation about it.the history of non-linear architecture is not so long, it is not mature enough, but under the correctness of its theory stand, non-linear architecture has already set off a massive revolution, and it will be at the most important position in the research of architecture development.
